The chemical specialist BASF has established an additive manufacturing division called BASF Forward AM, from which the brand's first 3D filaments—now a benchmark—were developed.

BASF Filament Range: Performance, Innovation, and Reliability

The BASF 3D filament range, marketed under the Ultrafuse brand, is designed to meet the demands of professionals and industry. It offers a variety of materials suitable for diverse applications:

• Ultrafuse PLA: A biodegradable filament that's easy to print, ideal for rapid prototyping.
• Ultrafuse PET: Offers good mechanical and chemical resistance, suitable for functional parts.
• Ultrafuse TPC 45D: A flexible filament with excellent wear resistance, perfect for applications requiring flexibility.
• Ultrafuse PP GF30: A glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene, providing increased rigidity and dimensional stability.

BASF also offers other technical composite filaments dedicated to demanding and high-performance prints.

Ultrafuse 316L Metal: Accessible Metal 3D Printing

The Ultrafuse 316L Metal filament enables the printing of 316L stainless steel parts using standard FDM printers. Comprising approximately 90% metal powder and 10% polymer binder, it requires post-processing through debinding and sintering to achieve dense, functional metal parts.
