Buy 3D resin printers
Resin 3D printers are very widespread in the 3D printing world. The democratisation of this additive manufacturing process has accelerated in recent years with the emergence of very affordable and reliable desktop3D printers. The arrival of SLA and LCD on the market has considerably reduced the price of 3D laser printers.
There are several resin-based technologies, including SLA (stereolithography), which uses a laser to harden a thermosetting polymer(resin) immersed in a vat on a manufacturing platform.
DLP (Digital Light Processing) uses much the same process, but instead of a laser, an overhead projector is used to photopolymerise the resin.
Finally, the LCD also uses the same methodology but incorporates an LED screen to flash the resin layer by layer.
The main advantage of using a resin-based additive manufacturing process is the quality of the finish. This technology produces printed parts with a very smooth surface finish and a very high level of precision.
Resin-based 3D printers are "inverted" compared with FDM 3D printers. The platen comes into contact with a tray filled with resin. As it rises, the resin is "flashed" by a laser, for example, to consolidate it on the platen.
There are two types of printer: SLA and LCD/ DLP. The major difference between these two technologies lies in the solution used to solidify the resin. On the one hand a laser and on the other a screen LCD.
Why buy a resin 3D printer?
Resin printers are ideal for creating finished parts with an impeccable surface finish. They are mainly used in the dental and jewellery industries, but also in engineering for very specific applications (temperature resistance, for example).
The speed of 3D printing is also one of the advantages of using resin 3D printers compared with other technologies.
What are the precautions associated with resin printers?
The resin used by this type of printer is sold in a liquid state and must be handled with care, wearing appropriate protective equipment (such as gloves and goggles). We also recommend machines with air filtration systems.
