PolyCast Polymaker is used to 3D print moulds for precision casting applications. This makes 3D printing an alternative to traditional methods. In addition, the significant reduction in production costs and times, while allowing greater freedom in the design of parts, opens up new opportunities for optimisation.
It enables moulds for the production of metal parts to be printed more quickly and less expensively than traditional methods. As PolyCast is compatible with Polysher, the finish of the resulting metal parts is excellent.
With residue-free burning and excellent surface quality, PolyCast is ideal for producing metal parts with complex geometries or small production volumes of metal parts.
Clean, residue-free burning: PolyCast SP802C burns completely when placed in an oven and decomposes without leaving any residue, resulting in a clean, defect-free mould ready for casting.
Inexpensive: Using PolyCast from Polymaker significantly reduces costs compared with lost-wax injection moulding, which requires special tooling.
Material that can be polished before casting: In order to obtain a smooth, clean surface that will ensure the best quality finish for metal parts, PolyCast can be polished at Polysher to eliminate printing overlays.
Easy to print: PolyCast filament prints in conditions similar to those of a PLA filament, with excellent dimensional stability and zero warping.
Natural PolyCast from Polymaker prints easily on all FDM 3D printers equipped with a heating plate and ventilation. PolyCast 3D printing is carried out at an extrusion temperature of between 200 and 230°C and a platen temperature of between 30 and 70°C, at a speed of 40 to 90 mm/s.
Parts printed with PolyCast filament can be post-treated with Polysher, the polishing tool from Polymaker. This step is recommended to ensure the uniformity of the surfaces and therefore the success of the moulds.
PolyCast SP802C is a moisture-sensitive material, so it is advisable to store it in a dry place to preserve its print quality, or to use the PolyBox.
