Use of the Nanovia ABS AF (Aramid Fibre - Kevlar) filament
The ABS AF filament for Aramid Fibre, more commonly known as Kevlar, is a basic ABS filament reinforced with Kevlar fibre. This fibre will have a number of beneficial effects on the filament.
Impact resistance and printability are the two strong points of this material compared with ABS.
This Kevlar-fibred ABS composite filament will be mechanically strong, more resistant to impact and friction and yet easier to print.
The composite filler will greatly reduce the deformation produced during cooling and will even improve the inter-layer bond. One of our favourite technical filaments.
ABS AF Nanovia: key strengths
Lightweight, impact and abrasion resistant: ABS Kevlar from Nanovia is one of the most interesting composites. Perfectly combined withABS, it considerably increases the various levels of wear resistance.
Superior printability: This Kevlar composite filament is easier to use than a standard ABS. Non-warping, good platen adhesion, dimensional accuracy and better inter-layer bonding are the advantages of this technical filament, which is accessible to all.
Lower abrasion than other composites: Aramid fibre is less abrasive than carbon or glass fibre, which are sometimes also present. The use of a steel nozzle with a diameter of 0.5mm is recommended, but a standard configuration will work.
Our recommendations for use withABS AF Nanovia
This ABS base composite filament requires the same recommendations and parameters as a traditional ABS.
However, it will be much less sensitive to warping and delamination, which are the main weaknesses ofABS printing in an open environment.
It is recommended to use a suitable type of adhesive Magigooit is recommended to use a suitable adhesive, with a plateau temperature of 100°C and an extrusion temperature of 240°C, to benefit from the full performance of this ABS composite.
AsABS and the aramid fibres are sensitive to UV rays, plan to have them painted for outdoor use. In this case, make sure you wear PPE (gloves, masks) when post-processing your 3D prints.
How to storeABS AF Nanovia
To obtain a perfect print, we also recommendsteaming your ABS AF at 60° for at least 4 hours when it has been exposed to the open air.
In terms of safety and the environment, we advise you to print this material either in an area equipped with air filtration or, at the very least, to use a professional, enclosed 3d printer. We also recommend using a reinforced nozzle.
