Filament PVA 1.75mm improved (M-PVA)

PVA or polyvinyl alcohol is used with dual extrusion printers to produce print media in a water-soluble material. By simply immersing your part in water (cold or warm), you can dissolve the supports and recover a finished part.

PVA 1.75mm is used by professionals to manufacture complex parts. It improves the printing process when the carrier has to be inside a part and is complicated to remove, for example.

PVA 1.75mm is very often used with PLA, TPU and PETG but it can be used and is compatible with more technical materials by following a few instructions below.

PVA / M-PVA 1.75mm strengths Forshape

Moisture resistance : The PVA 1.75mm filament from Forshape is improved and its methanol-based composition makes it less prone to moisture pick-up. However, we recommend that you take care when storing this fragile material.

Highly compatible: Compatible with a wide range of materials, including PLA, TPU and PETG. Follow the advice at the bottom of the page for more technical materials (ABS, ABS-X, ASA, PA).

Good print stability: This improved material will behave better and be more stable during printing than a standard PVA.

Faster dissolving: This filament dissolves very quickly in water. Take care when storing to avoid damaging this fragile filament.

Printing tips

PVA 1.75mm Forshape Black is a filament compatible with all 3D printers equipped with a 1.75mm extrusion and compatible with the recommendations for use below.

This filament requires an extrusion temperature of between 180 and 220°C. A heating plate that will enable you to obtain a constant plate temperature of between 40 and 60°C.

For printing materials other than PLA, TPU and PETG, the platen temperature range of PVA Forshape will be too low. We therefore recommend that you print a 100%raft on PVA and set the platen temperature to that of PVA.

We recommend that you set the temperature, shrinkage and standby time for nozzle changes in your Slicer to avoid clogging your nozzles.

Make sure you store your PVA 1.75mm coils in a dry place.

Post-processing your parts PVA

After printing, we recommend that you immerse your parts with the PVA backing directly in water (cold or lukewarm). It's best if the water is stirred regularly so that the PVA is eliminated evenly and effectively.
