Use of the filament BASF Ultrafuse PP GF30

The Ultrafuse PP GF30 filament is a highly technical composite material. Using a base of PP (Polypropylene) reinforced with 30% glass fibre, it is suitable for the most demanding applications.

Characterised by excellent chemical and UV resistance, this filament is particularly well suited to the automotive industry. The properties of PP are greatly enhanced by the addition of glass fibre. Lightweight and highly resistant to moisture absorption, it also has the advantage of being highly temperature resistant.

The many strengths of this Ultrafuse PP GF30 filament make it an excellent choice for tooling, wear parts and functional parts.

Ultrafuse PP GF30 key strengths

Mechanical performance: The BASF PP GF30 composite filament is extremely strong and robust, benefiting from the strength and flexibility of PP while greatly increasing its resistance. This glass fibre, specifically developed for 3D printing filaments, guarantees high extrusion quality and performance.

Chemical resistance: Polypropylene (PP) is the material used as the basis for developing this GF30 composite filament. The Ultrafuse PP GF30 filament therefore benefits from the material's excellent versatility in terms of chemical resistance.

Thermal resistance: This technical 3D printing material offers excellent thermal resistance properties. With a bending temperature under load (0.45 MPa) of 127°C, it responds well to the highest thermal stresses.

Our recommendations for use with PP GF30

Printing with PP GF30 filament requires advanced expertise in additive manufacturing, and a number of special precautions need to be taken. In terms of plate adhesion, this PP filament is known to be highly sensitive to warping on "thick" parts.

It is advisable to manufacture thin hulls rather than solid objects. In all cases, the use of a specific adhesive solution is necessary. Glue, for example Magigoo PP GF30 is perfectly suited to this. Other specific coatings also exist and can also solve this problem.

The other point to watch out for is the high abrasion produced by this filament on most extrusion systems. The high proportion of glass fibre in this PP GF30 filament requires the use of a reinforced nozzle with a minimum diameter of 0.5 mm.
