Flame-retardant filament
There are few filaments in this flame-retardant category, as the use of thermoplastics is generally contradictory to the desire to work with flame-retardant materials. A flame-retardant or self-extinguishing filament will not catch fire. This UL 94 V0 standard corresponds to a very specific behaviour of this filament in relation to a flame. These flame-retardant or V0 filaments will not produce flaming drops and will be self-extinguishing within 10 seconds. If your applications require the use of a V0 fire-rated material, remember to use your 3D printer and the appropriate filament.
Technical and high-performance, V0-rated filaments are generally limited to PC bases, so hobbyist or semi-professional printers may find it difficult to use these fire-retardant filaments. High extrusion, platen and enclosure temperatures are recommended. The best compromise is undoubtedly the PC-ABS VO version, such as that made by forshape. Certified and more affordable than the raw PC versions, this alloy will meet your quality requirements and needs perfectly.
Why choose a V0 flame-retardant filament?
In many fields or applications, the use of standardised flame-retardant / V0 materials is necessary. Leading manufacturers such as forshape and BASF are responding to this need by offering several references of these products in versions that can be used for your 3D prints. Recommended for use with the most powerful printers, such as Ultimaker or Raise3D, this filament with its fire-resistant properties requires a minimum of experience and vigilance with regard to potential difficulties linked to platen adhesion.
Available in a range of colours and in diameters of 1.75mm or 2.85mm, these spools of flame-retardant filament will ensure high-performance, technical production adapted to the most demanding or extreme environments.
