Filament PETG

PETG filament is a 3D printing material that belongs to the polyester family. It is a synthetic material that is easily recyclable. PET is a material that is more commonly found in packaging, bottles and containers. Its mechanical properties, good overall chemical resistance and intrinsic food contact standard mean that this 3D filament is naturally found in chemical and/or food environments. In the form of PET-G or PETG, it will be made more efficient and adapted to printer technology FDM.

Natural translucency, overall strength, rub resistance and long life are the attributes of the modern material PETG. Located between PLA andABS for its thermal and mechanical performance, it also shares this position for its printability. Simple, effective and efficient, PETG is generally the 1st alternative to PLA. As well as being hydrophobic, it also has good post-processing characteristics, such as sanding and drilling.

PETG filament spools represent an excellent compromise between simplicity and technicality. For even greater performance, some manufacturers such as Ultimaker and Polymaker have developed versions with improved temperature and mechanical resistance. These latest versions offer impressive overall characteristics.

Our particular favourite is the carbon-loaded version from manufacturers such as forshape. The carbon reinforcement adds rigidity and a carbon look - we love it.

Why choose PETG filament?

PET-G filament spools represent an excellent compromise between simplicity and efficiency. The mechanical and thermal weaknesses of PLA prints have been overcome and there are no printing problems linked toABS. It is compatible with both the most affordable hobbyist printers and a wide range of professional printer applications. There are few drawbacks to these 3D printing materials, the only drawback being PETG 's slight tendency to string (angel hair), which can easily be corrected by adjusting the temperature.

Which filament should you choose PETG?

Our selection of filaments includes PETG, PETG-Recycled, PETG Carbon... There are also some ESD or Magnetizable. Choose the version best suited to your needs. By default, a standard PETG will be less rigid than the carbon version. The recycled version doesn't affect performance in any way, it just offers a less varied range of colours. We also particularly recommend the carbon version, like this PETG CF from ForShape, for its attractive matt finish and excellent overall performance.
